How The "Spiritually Gifted" Learners add to the Chaos At Schools

Image
As of late, violence and chaos have been disturbing the learning process in the Katlehong schools. Learners have been reported to have beat up their fellow mates and their teachers. This has prompted  the communities near the schools to intervene and try to solve these problems themselves  with the help of other stake holders. i was invited by the parents to help them come up with solutions to these issues. We visited two schools in Katlehong, Fumana and Alafang, and our first task was to really look deeper and see the possible root causes of these problems. It did not take long for me to spot one possible root cause. Most of the classes we visited in these schools, if not all, had two or more learners who underwent "ukuthwasa". For those who do not know, Ukuthwasa is the Sacred process that trains African traditional doctors, prophets and herbsman. This than means, these schools have people with extra ordinary needs and extra ordinary abilities. This contributes to the Cha

Decolonize The Workplace

The fact that the South AFrican corporate environment is bias against African people is one that cannot be disputed by a mentally fit person. It is well known in South Africa that for one to survive in this vicious corporate environment you will have to lose your identity together with your African morals and values. And we have been prepared to make such sacrifices from primary schooling level where teachers never allowed us to keep our Afro's. We have been taught from school that a Gentleman cuts his hair yet that was only if he is a black child. It then became easy for us to accept these standards by the time we joined the work force. One knew that the chances of passing an interview with a uncombed clean afro were very very slim so you had better shave your hair, preferably go bald, that increased your chances of passing the interview. Every year, the Christian, Jewish, and Islamic community celebrate/observe certain days that are of significance in their religious commun

Hip-Hop's Influence Is Dead

The influence of Hip-Hop music in shaping the minds of the young is no longer as effective and vibrant as it used to be when I was younger. I grew up in Nhlapo, Khalabanzo, the violent and rough section of Katlehong that birthed the city's most notorious thugs like Wosh and Makaka of the BMX gang. These guys were influenced by the Italian Mafia movies of their time. Yet their children, the generation that came after them were less violent but very troublesome. These were the guys whose behavior and actions were influenced by Tupac and Eminem(mostly). Their violence rarely exceeded to physical fights, it was mostly through rebellion to societal expectations, traditional morals and values. Tupac and Eminem were able to make their struggles relatable to the daily struggles that were faced by the youth of the 80's in South Africa so it was easy for them to be relevant and capture not only the minds of their audience in South Africa but also their emotions. Tupac'

OLDER WOMEN SHOULD DATE YOUNGER GUYS!HERE IS WHY!

Over the past decade we have seen more women opting to date younger guys, from celebrities, to presidents and normal people. South African actress, Khoni Furgerson and the wife of French President Emanuel Makron are among those women who decided to follow their heart and not allow the age gap to stop them from fulfilling their happiness and judging from the distance, one could tell that they are happy indeed. There are many reasons why these kind of relationships tend to be healthy for older women, they vary from individual to individual but I will list some of the common factors below: ·         Matching sexual drive: Women’s libido seems to increase as they grow older while men’s libido on the other side decreases as they get older, this means that it is younger guys who have the sexual drive that can match that of older women. In every relationship, sexual energy plays a huge role and most of the times happiness becomes absent in a relationship where the other partners needs a
